Back with a Big Bang!

Back with a Big Bang!

Have you heard? The Big Bang Fair North East is back!

We are proud sponsors of this great FREE programme of events designed to get young people aged 11-19 excited about science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) in the real world.

It’s part of a major UK-wide programme led by EngineeringUK to reveal the opportunities STEM can offer young people.

There’ll be science and engineering shows, inspirational talks, hands-on workshops and drop-in activity sessions – all delivered by leading businesses, universities and others.

Schools are invited to showcase their STEM projects created at or outside of school and the event celebrates students’ work, culminating in an awards ceremony. A selection of projects will be nominated to represent the North East at the National Science + Engineering Competition which will take place in March 2016.

The whole point of the Big Bang Fairs programme is to inspire the UK’s future scientists and engineers at a regional, local and school level.

The events encourage more people to take these subjects, as well as celebrating young people’s achievements in science and engineering through displaying their STEM projects and letting them talk with engineers and scientists, face to face.

As part of the North East programme we’ll be taking part at the Northumbria University-hosted event on Tuesday 7 July from 10am to 2:30pm.
